School Boy Fashion

This half term holiday my cousin Henry came up to stay with us. Every time he visits, his dear older cousin (me!) always uses him as a 'playdoll' for her latest looks or creations. Since it was the weekend and being inspired by my new school desk, i decided to put together a little vintage school boy look. It sure made him look years younger.. thus making me feel years older! Though he might not look too impressed... i'm sure deep down he loved it! Bring back cute school boys please!

Weekend Bliss.. Weekend Read...

This has been sitting on my book shelf for way too long and i've always meant to read it. I've read most of Xinran Xue's books and this is probably my last one out of her entire collection. Her stories, fiction and non fiction are usually haunting and very political. They are usually stories of life, loss, love and death.  Sky Burial is tells the true story of a chinese women searching for her missing Husband who disappeared in Tibet. This extraordinary life story spans over 30 years, where she was lost in the wild landscape of Tibet. Through the changing seasons, and upon the people she meets, the legend of the sky burial tradition is unraveled...

Reading....Tea...Biscuits... Partying... Easter lunch.... this will be one brilliant Easter weekend.

These adorable and affordable accessories are just so sweet, it will make any outfit magical! Childish? Maybe... but fun factor?... 10/10!

I'm not sure where you can buy them in Hong Kong, but i know this site delivers worldwide:

My Bling Bling Box

After a long day out the house i can finally finish this post. Had a lazy day yesterday and decided to find a use for one of my sewing boxes that have been lying around my room for too long. I found this pretty wooden box at a local market last year and just fell inlove with it straight away. I've actually used it as a 'handbag' once on a nice summer day. I've finally decide to store all my beloved vintage, new and old accessories inside. I decided to split the box into two separate styles... one is the 'Angel' side, with pretty pearls and flowers and the other is a bit Rock and Roll... little harder and slightly gothic. It's like the Ying and Yang of Bling Bling.  Some might think this box reflects me quite well... total split personality! Haha...

Paper Art

Sorry for neglecting my baby! I'v been busy with a few projects in the past couple of weeks...plus being down with cold had put me to bed for nearly a week! Being ill and staying at home has given me time to immerse myself in one of my favourite hobbies... paper crafts! I love to draw with a knife! I think of it as a continuous line drawing... Connecting one with another. I also like using industrial laser cutting machines... but nothing can beat the hand finished effect... to me it has a lot more life! Here are some examples of my work..

Example of my fashion design work... Handmade resin jacket that took over 100 hours of work!

Ghost in Town Project: Video

This post is totally outdated... it's been sitting in my drafts box for quite some time now. I've finally found the time to finally post it up! Before i left HK my photographer friend and I had a little 'dress up' fun in Sheung Wan. What we basically did was scare the living day out of some poor locals who were enjoying their saturday afternoon. I came dressed from head to toe as a 1940s war girl. The reaction we got was rather humorous. Some seemed scared and others were really interested. My hair and make up was done by my friend Sunny... who completely transformed me! At first i wasn't used to such heavy make up...but like th devoted person i am, i had to stay true to 1940's make up. I loved my fake beauty spot...kinda distracts away from my freckles!

I also put together a real quick video on the transformation process. It's very obvious that this is my first ever home made video. I would lie to you and say i was going for the whole 'vintage' effect... but truth is, making it look old just helped disguise my poor technical skills. Watch this space...practise makes perfect!

Finding Neverland In Hong Kong...part 3

Part three and my favourite! Walk up the stairs to '2/F District Crime HQ'.... or other's may call it HK's most wonderful toy museum! Kk is devoted and proud to be 'Made in Hong Kong'. His gigantic vintage toy collection, which were all Hong Kong manufactured, expresses his great passion to preserve this bit of history of HK. KK specializes in collecting plastic goods, a very iconic material of 1960's-80s HK. He also collected toys in original packaging. He was so kind to talk me through each piece in detail, from the subtle changes in each packaging, to the date of which he found that particular piece.  I was a little girl in awe and excitement walking up the stairs to rooms filled with toys. I spent a good hour exploring and playing with some of his collection. My photos really don't reflect the impact of his collection...but here are a few snapshots of my experience... i'm leaving room for your imagination!

Finding Neverland in Hong Kong Part 2

As mentioned in part one, the house is so tastefully yet quirkily put together. It was quite cinematic... Kk's attention to detail made the place so special. His interests expands to the nature. His small, but cleverly decorated backyard is home to some charming little plants. Everything is simple and delicate... making the place so relaxing... i could seriously spend an afternoon there in the backyard!
