London Greenwich

I love to travel out of busy zone 1 London for day trips in places like Greenwich. On a slightly breezy and summer's day, it is the perfect place to relax and explore. It has the perfect combination of outdoor greens, indoor markets, foods and culture soaking museums. Museums include The National Maritime Museum, a lovely little Fan Museum and the breathtaking Royal Naval College's Painted Hall.. an absolute masterpiece. The grand hall hosts Trafalgar Night Dinners every October, where a luxurious four course dinners are served under candle light and grandeur. If you are around London during October, it is definitely worth experiencing... but remember to book early!

Another of my favourite places is Greenwich market... full of street food, gourmet food produce, and unique hand made crafts and gifts etc. Expect to walk out of it a few pounds lighter on the wallet....and a few pounds heavier on the belly!

London In Love

London is like my second home (although I am being a little greedy since I also classify HK, Durham and Glasgow as my homes as well). Here, I want to share with you my life in London... half tourist...half local...fully in LOVE with the city!

Afternoon tea at Godiva in Harrods... I love their savoury crepes and
melt in the middle chocolate cake... YUM!

Coffee after art at the Royal Academy of Arts. The summer exhibition
was fantastic... with walls full of quirky paintings and very innovative
and quirky sculptures supporting aspiring artists around the world.

Another must visit is the V&A. I used to spend afternoons drawing
by myself for inspiration. Some of their textiles and jewellery
collection is absolutely beautiful.

I Heart Romance

Just found these pictures that i took for a past university project. Modelling is my beautiful friend Yu Jin from Korea. I absolutely love this 1950s prom dress. There are layers and layers of fabric making it one of the most glamorous and romantic dresses in my wardrobe. Now i just have to find an excuse to wear it...perhaps a vintage party when i get back to Hong Kong anyone? It will be my ultimate goal to host a wonderful vintage party in the coming fall...music, champagne, dancing...vintage style! watch this space...

My love for everything DIY... Up Cycling Fabrics

I have been forever inlove with hand crafts. The thought of turning something old and unwanted into something with life and new purpose  excites me. I have collected yards and yards of vintage fabrics over the past years and i wish to someday have a big enough collection to share with others and pass on the beauty of  these high quality prints. Near where i live there used to be a warehouse that stocked all kinds of Uk made fabrics but after the decline in Uk manufacturers... the warehouse was shut down resulting in rolls of left over fabrics. I was lucky to meet a retired designer who was happy to pass on some of the left over fabrics to me...under the condition that i put my heart into making them into wonderful creations and not let them hide in the haberdashery.

Below are a couple examples of clothing made from these recycled fabrics. Next will be hand made lamp shades... which will hopefully be done by next month so i will keep you updated!

Healthy Doggy Treats

My family dog Ponyo is probably the cheekiest little dog i have ever seen. She is constantly hungry, curious about everything and can't resist to play. Like most pugs, she has to be super careful about her weight. Pugs tend to never feel full and she will seriously lick the floor clean for you... i could never have a quiet meal without her begging and scratching at my feet . All these naughty little traits makes her ever more endearing to me. She is my little princess.

To help control her weight, we found some healthy alternative treats. These biscuits were hand made by a lovely couple who opens for business once a month at the local market. My dog seems to absolutely love them, especially the 'cheese and bacon' flavoured ones. Seeing the way her face lights up with these snacks, it has inspired me to try to make some of these healthy snacks.

'Love them back'... Touching advert (must watch!)

I have always been interested in the language of advertising. I recently saw this one on british TV and it captivated my heart. To me, this is one powerful advert that proves simplicity with soul and heart engages the viewer more than any flashy advert. The cinematography is beautiful and nostalgic. This poignant advert will touch many people, especially pet owners. If you are a dog person then you will understand that they are your true friend, you confide with him, you grieve with him and he loves you unconditionally. No words of explanation is needed in this 60sec advert... the message is conveyed effortlessly...'love them back'. Simply touching....

A little rain does't stop the fun! Vintage Fair

The sun is finally here and we won't let a little drizzle of rain ruin our excitement! Recently my hometown hosted a vintage fair with dancing, live jazz, food and stalls full of antique treasures! It was lovely seeing families out enjoying the bank holiday weekend. People of all ages came together to celebrate the British summer officially approaching. Although i wasn't there for long, i could tell that people were really enjoying themselves in this delightful little festival. The cutest girl about town! Her whole family came dressed in vintage clothing. It was so heartwarming to see her dancing with her papa to vintage jazz music... it was a real education on traditional british culture to the younger generation.
